Understanding The Many Reasons for Infertility

The reasons for one being infertile are many, though there are a few that have been established as being more common. These are definitely worth knowing about, especially if you have tried becoming pregnant and failed many times over.
There are many who are going to assume that this is just a female problem. They may be somewhat justified in assuming this, especially in light of all of the medical problems surrounding females and their reproductive systems. There have been many studies however, that indicate the infertility issues with men and women are somewhat similar. There are many factors that affect each gender.
There are some other causes of infertility. Perhaps the testicles failed to descend, or there might even be varicose veins within the testicles. Malfunctioning veins can have a detrimental effect on the circulatory system, thereby halting the production of decent sperm. There are a number of ways to treat this, and some will work in a given situation, while others will not.
Issues in the tubes that the sperm travel though could also be reasons for infertility. Healthy sperm might be in abundance, but if they cannot make it to the end of the line it was all for naught.
In women there is a more likely cause. Luteal phase defect, or LPD indicates many different causes. If the ovulation process is shortened for any reason, infertility may be a direct result. Hormone imbalance can cause this, as well as obesity. There are many other sources, including some of those which affect the men.
There is also Pelvic inflammatory disease. This is an instance where the fallopian tubes are blocked, and can cause some serious fertility issues.
Another common cause is obesity, but it doesn't happen as often as you might think. Sometimes the fat cells produce estrogen, This will shorten the luteal phase, causing infertility. There are also chemical imbalances that cause infertility. If you are in the ten percent that is affected by this issue, take action immediately.
Some of these causes are interchangeable between genders. Obviously drinking, smoking, STD's, improper diet, etc, can affect both men and women. They are good potential causes to look at if you find yourself experiencing infertility.
If you are planning to seek treatment, it might be wise to try to work out the obvious factors first. Don't spend too much money on the high end treatments if you don't have to!
